What can Horizon Energy Systems do for you? • Install the solar system. • Coordinate all permits and inspections. • Complete the solar rebate and utility interconnection paperwork. • Offer fair prices and honest counsel about solar system installation and performance. What are the steps to having a solar system installed? • Schedule a site evaluation. • Determine annual energy use. PG&E customers may call 1-800-743-5000 (press zero twice to get an agent) and ask for 12 month billing history in terms if kWh per month for 12 months. Or create an account at www.pge.com and download this info. • Verify your roof is in good shape. The best time to reroof is before installing a solar system, as PV modules can last 40+ years. If your roof is likely to be replaced within 7 years, it is recommended to reroof before installing solar panels. • Complete an economic solar payback analysis to determine financial viability of a Photovoltaic solar system. If your electric bill is high, a PV system may be a conservatively lucrative investment! • Design a PV system to net out the average annual electric bill (within your roof's limits). Or size a system that fits your budget and future goals. • Complete a California Solar Initiative required on-line energy audit, to be submitted by your installer with the solar rebate paperwork. Refer to Energy Audit PV Rebate Requirements on the Your Role page for complete details. • Reserve a solar rebate (if one is available in your area) by signing an installation agreement and rebate form, just as soon as your are comfortable, since rebates tend to drop over time. • After system is installed the local building inspector will check the installation and sign-off on the permit, once it passes inspection. Next an interconnection agreement must be signed between you and the utility. A new bi-directional meter will be installed (for PG&E customers). The signed building permit is submitted to the solar rebate administrator (for PG&E territory) and the rebate check is issued. |
